I’d like to start a series of articles in which I will be telling you how I promote my services: Bubblecast Video Platform and http://BubbleSoftStore.com/.
I want to share this experience with you and we will make a successful video service together. I made a plan for myself how I will be promoting my stuff and we gonna follow it together with you.
I believe it will be useful for all folks who want to learn how to make money with online video.

A bit of history

Bubblecast Video Platform has become a mature service for past year and gained users’ recognition.  Now it’s time to make money

I started up Bubblecast to make it a Video Monetization Platform because I felt that there’re lots of creative people who make videos but don’t know how to get money from it.

My goal is to provide those people with a system where they only care about creating a good video and money flows to them without any effort. This is of course ideal situation, in real world if you don’t work hard, you don’t get enough, no pain no gain.

But I want to make it easier for video creators to get paid for their hard work .

When the video is uploaded it becomes available to the users who want to buy software. They watch your video and when it’s finished they can either download a trial version or buy the software straight away. When they buy you get the commission, a percentage of software price. If they download a trial version and make the purchase after some trial period you again get your commission. All you need is a good video review.

How much do you pay to me?

When someone buys a software Bubblesoft gets affiliate commission from the vendor. We share this money with authors of the videos. We also want to spread out our videos as much as possible, so webmasters or bloggers who put Bubblesoft video on their websites also get their commission.

The more great video reviews you create the more money Bubblesoft earns. The more we earn the more we share with you.

How much can an author earn?

It depends on multiple factors: the size of vendor’s commission, the popularity of the software, its price and of course the quality of your video review.

The quality of review is what really matters because the buyers will rank your video and the higher the rank is the greater chance your video appears in the top list. And the top list is what people buy more frequently.

Another reason for creating good review is that other people would like to share your great video on their websites, it means more sources of getting commission for you.

Let’s make a simple calculation. You created a video review for a software which costs $29.99 and the vendor’s commission is 50%. Your video was viewed at Bubblesoft website by 1000 people in September and 2% bought the software. Your video was also shared by 10 bloggers and they brought your another 20 sales in Septemeber. The vendor’s commission is 50% so yours is 25% when the video is shown at Bubblesoft and 22.5 % for sales on third-party websites.

How much can a webmaster earn?

It depends on how many sales have been made through your website. If you run a blog you might write an article and embed Bubblesoft video into it. If you have enough visitors and this software is what they might be interested in this is a good way for you to monetize your blog. Moreover, if your article is good other people will link to it and your rank in Google will get higher. It means Google will put your page higher in search results driving people who were searching to buy software your article is about to your blog.
Let’s make a simple calculation. You write an article about the software product and embed Bubblesoft video you found on our website. The software costs $29.99 and the vendor’s commission is 50% so yours commission is 5%. Your article and video was viewed by the visitors of your blog 1000 times in October, 2% of them bought the software. Google has brought to you another 50 people who were looking for this kind of software and they all made the purchase.

We just released a new version of Bubblecast Video Plugin for Wordpress and it now has new cool features, read on.

Resize thumbnails and player

When you’ve embedded a video into the post and somebody views the page he(maybe she) first sees the thumbnail – a snapshot image from your video.  When the user clicks the thumbnail the Quickcast player appears and starts playing.

You can now control the dimensions of both player and thumbnail in your post.

The new parameters are added to  [ bubblecast ] tag.

[ bubblecast id=286236 thumbnail=475x375 player=752x544 ]

thumbnail=475×375 tells the thumbnail picture to be 475 by 375 pixels.
player=752×544 makes player show video in 752×544 resolution.

When you click Insert into post in Quickcast it substitutes original video resolution to player parameter. If thumbnail’s and player’s width and height are the same the video is being played just in place of the thumbnail, if they differ, player is shown in a popup window.
Below are some examples of how you can use this new feature.

Recent video in context

The sidebar widget Recent video has got new option – show videos from the context. It means you can put your videos into different categories and the widget will pick up the posts from the category being shown. You should set Get videos from the context widget parameter to Yes. If no video posts are found in the current category it falls back to the category(categories) you’ve chosen in widget’s setup.

You haven’t heard from me for some time just because I was busy working on new features of Bubblecast service.Now we present:

Youtube support

Now you can enter Youtube video link and get it in the blog like it was uploaded to Bubblecast.  Here is the sample Youtube clip

Sidebar widget for recent videos

We created sidebar widget which you can use to show recent posts with Bubblecast videos. If you go to Admin Console -> Appearance -> Widgets and drop the widget to your sidebar, it will show the most recent video posts from the category you define in widget configuration.  The widget can show posts from multiple categories, either vertically or horizontally if your theme supports horizontal toolbars. You also define how many videos should appear in the widget.

Italian and Dutch language support

You can now have Quickcast Flash Player in Italian and Dutch.  Italian translation is kindly provided by our Italian partner – Marco Forconi – http://marcoforconi.com .  Dutch translation is done by our partner in Netherlands Jacob Schipper – http://mkbweb.nl

Rewinding in Quickcast player

We enabled rewinding in the player, you can now rewind forward and back. The pieces of video being downloaded are cached on your computer and thus save your bandwidth if you play the video once again.

Video playback performance improvement

We made some improvements on the server side of the Bubblecast to improve playback performance of the video clips.
Optimizations for screencasts
Screencasts are videos created from your computer’s screen.  For example you want to show the users of your website how to use your service. You make screencasts with special software, like Camstudio or Camtasia, you just start the recording, open the browser, go to your website, show the users what features it has and comment your moves to the speakerphone.

Screencasts usually have high resolution, like 1440 x 900 because the whole computer’s screen is captured. When you play a screencast in Quickcast player, you should switch to Full Screen mode by clicking the button in the bottom right of the player.

There is also some special processing of such videos in Bubblecast to get the best playback quality.

I’ve come across an article which I’d like to share with you.

How much would you pay a month to look at YouTube?

Apparently, billionaire investor Warren Buffett is willing to shell out five bucks for the pleasure of seeing dogs skateboard, kids making their own videos and the occasional piece of unlicensed material. At least that’s what he told Liberty Media Chairman Corp. John Malone at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Malone shared that tidbit with reporters today after the morning sessions here. He was responding to one reporter’s comment that Facebook probably could get away with charging a small fee to its users. Malone, who sits on the board of cable programming giant Discovery Communications, thinks eventually people are going to have to adjust to coughing up some cash for online content.

“People will get addicted and be willing to pay for it,” Malone said.

Another article quotes Google Inc. Chief Executive Eric Schmidt

He said he hoped to get more professional content on YouTube, the Google-owned site that is dominated by amateur videos. Asked when YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006 for $1.65 billion, would make money, Schmidt said he wouldn’t make predictions. Page added that a timeline for its profitability was “just not that important.”

Although Larry Page says he doesn’t care about Youtube profitability I think they will have to make a decision some day.  According to some experts Youtube costs from $ 175 to $ 450 million a year, too much money to waste for fun.

Youtube hit 72.5 million US visitors in May 2009, if they have each paid $5 per month like Warren Buffett it would be

72.5  * $5 =  $ 362.5 million

or

$ 4 350  000 000 a year

Hmm… Well enough to make it profitable.
